We look forward to hearing from you.We're looking for a passionate and driven engineering professional to join our team, working at the heart of our critical infrastructure environments. In this role, you'll play a key part across the full lifecycle of engineering delivery - from planning and system design through to implementation, maintenance, and ongoing optimisation.You'll lead smaller-scale projects and support the rollout of engineering initiatives, while also contributing to the development of engineering standards, policies, and best practices. Collaboration is central to this role - you'll work closely with design engineering, site engineering, construction, and operations teams, as well as external vendors and consultants, to deliver exceptional outcomes.This is a fantastic opportunity to combine hands-on technical expertise with project leadership, helping to shape both day-to-day operations and the longer-term direction of our data centre environments.ResponsibilitiesProject ManagementSupport the delivery and coordination of engineering projects and initiatives (specially those related to HVAC/Chiller solutions)Provide leadership to ensure projects meet or exceed expectations in terms of quality, safety, and timelinesSystem Operation & Work Practices (including Capacity Planning)Carry out complex maintenance and repairs across engineering systemsDevelop scopes of work (SOWs) for maintenance, replacement, and construction activitiesApply Equinix processes and procedures to resolve non-routine or complex issuesChampion and uphold safe working practices at an expert level (e.g. LOTO, MSDS understanding)Identify power and cooling constraints alongside capacity and site engineering teams, helping shape practical solutionsTraining & DevelopmentSupport the onboarding and development of new team membersContinue building expertise through hands-on experience, vendor training, and knowledge sharingAct as a subject matter expert (SME) in specific systems and support the development of othersContract AdministrationSupport effective contract administration, including the creation, review, and tracking of contracts, change orders, and cost forecastsLeadership & Communication (including Vendor Management)Mentor and support more junior engineersCoordinate and guide internal teams and external partners (contractors, design teams, suppliers, etc.)Communicate effectively across functions, including contributing to SOP development and technical documentationEngage with stakeholders across the business, including occasional senior-level communicationsPolicy & ProcedureContribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and standardsEnsure adherence through documentation reviews, commissioning activities, and site inspectionsProblem SolvingTake ownership of complex, cross-functional challengesProactively identify risks and recommend system-level improvementsEvaluate solutions and validate suitability for implementationTechnical ExpertiseMaintain and deepen expert-level knowledge across key systemsAct as a go-to technical expert within the teamShare knowledge through internal sessions or external industry forums where appropriateQualifications Proven experience across mechanical system design (especially around HVAC/Chiller solutions), operations, maintenance, and project delivery - ideally within data centres or other mission-critical environmentsWe also welcome candidates from design consultancy or adjacent industries looking to bring their expertise into a new and evolving environmentBachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)Chilled water, process water, or HVAC systems (Must have)High-density cooling solutions (Must have)Equipment replacement strategiesMechanical design or consultancy experienceEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
